Accommodations are SCARCE! There are far more racers than rooms. Be prepared to tent if you cannot reserve a room.
Hotels and motels in Grande Cache are reasonably priced, clean, and located only a short walk from the start/finish area. There are also several area campgrounds. Reserve your room EARLY, as all commercial hotel space will be full for the entire week leading up to the Death Race. Rooms and waiting lists occasionally open up in June and July, so have a plan-B and keep trying. Plenty of space and a festival atmosphere is created at Tent City, which includes access to the Rec Centre facilities and washrooms.
If you are unable to book a room, the Tourism Centre maintains a list of billeting accommodations once local accommodations are full. Many Grande Cache families have opened their homes to racers for a reasonable set fee. THE BILLETING PROGRAM WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE ONCE HOTEL/MOTEL SPACE IN TOWN IS FULL. Grande Cache Municipal Campground: RESERVATIONS ACCEPTED. Office opens May 17, 2010 780-827-2404. 77 stalls, 55 full service, 22 partial service, dumping station, showers and laundry facilities. Full Hook Up $25/night - Partial $20/night. All sites have water & power, 55 also have sewage. Free fire wood, grated fire pits, picnic tables, flush toilets, showers, laundry facilities, lit roadways, WI FI. Treed sites. Hiking trails. Open May long weekend and closes third weekend in October.
